Profile:
I am a cognitive neuroscientist and research scientist in the Wig Neuroimaging Lab at the Center for Vital Longevity. My research focuses on methods and theory for understanding large-scale functional brain networks across the adult lifespan. My work spans study design, data collection (Midlife Brain & Environment Study), methods development, large-scale neuroimaging analysis, and mentorship of trainees in quantitative and neuroimaging methods. I recieved my Ph.D. in Cognition and Neuroscience at the The University of Texas at Dallas.
Research:
My research examines how lifecourse experience and environment shape the organization of functional brain network. My work has shown how socioeconomic status moderates the aging of functional brain network (published in PNAS), and how educational attainment can predict decline in brain network organization, which, in turn is prognostic of future dementia severity (published in Nature Aging).
Methodologically, I integrate network science, multivariate modeling, and machine learning using R, Python, and MATLAB, applied to large-scale multimodal neuroimaging data (FSL, SPM, FreeSurfer, HCP-style pipelines).
Life:
I have a strong interest in how data analytics is used to unveil hidden patterns in various big data. In my spare time, I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, woodworking, and unwind by watching science/education videos (video-list).
